A Little Good News
They say good news is hard to come by. On a global level, I find that to be true. Good news is usually found on the personal level. I could use your help finding the good news stories from around the world. Please send them to me.
The word gospel means good news and to evangelize means to publicize or spread good news abroad.
Jesus was sent to bring an announcement of good news to all the people of the world. The real good news came about two thousand years ago when the angel of the Lord declared the good news to shepherds saying,
…, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good
tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city
of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And
this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying
in a manger.
- Luke 2:10-12
Relating these good tidings of great joy, the apostle Paul proclaimed,
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you
the gospel
which I preached unto you, which also ye have
received, and where in ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I
preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all
that which I also received,
how that Christ died for our sins
according to the scriptures
;
- I Corinthians 15:1-3
The good news that Jesus brought is the offer of eternal life in the kingdom of God. Mark 1:14-15 states,
Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand/ repent ye, and believe the gospel.
Speaking to a group of people, some of whom He had healed and some of whom He had cast out devils, Jesus said,
…, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also:
for
therefore am I sent.
- Luke 4:43
